HOW SCAMMERS FAKE NVIDIA GeFORCE VIDEO  ADAPTOR  

DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING FROM ONLINE CUSTOMERS ?

bEWARE OF sCAMMERS !

Readers of this article should know that, the content of this instructions is not to promote criminality in the industry of IT but to create a security alert for people most especially online buyers to be careful when buying computers from unknown people. Many people have been victimized of this SCAM and we see the need to publish how possible it is and how to handle an anticipating or suspicious NVIDIA GeFORCE VIDEO  ADAPTOR   machine.   Our research reveals that the hard component of the machine is the main thing but the software can be hacked and changed its information in every area of the computer. It is therefore my wish that every buyer of laptops from the internet such as Tonaton or OLX Ghana would use the solution here on this blog as guide to secure their transactions.

1.       Click Start from your windows machine

2.       Right Click on the computer from the menu list

3.       Select and click manage

4.       Click on device manager

5.       Click and expand Display Adaptor

6.       Right click on the installed adaptor

7.       Select and click properties

8.       On the tabs, select details

9.       Under the property list , select drivers key

10.   Copy the drivers key displayed in the value box

11.   Press windows key + R key to invoke the run field in windows

12.   Type regedit in the run field to go the system registry

13.   Press on F key + to invoke the find search field

14.   Paste the copied drivers key and press enter from your keyboard

15.   Wait until the search is done

16.   The system will bring any related information of the copied driver key

17.   NB: you will not be able to make changes to the key until you have taken ownership of the key and it’s sub keys

18.   To take ownership of the key,

19.   Right click on the key,

20.    select permissions from the menu,

21.   click on advance button ,

22.   select owner from the tabs

23.   click on other groups

24.   click on advance again and click on find now button and select users followed by the pc name as the owner of the machine

25.   click on , and click the check box replace with all subcontainers, apply and ok

26.   click on add on the face window, then repeat from step 21 to 25

27.   this time select permission which is “full control “ of the machine owner which will be display in images bellow

28.   on the right pane of the registry, right click and select StringKey, Type “ FriendlyName “ without the quotes OR right click and rename the String Value as “FriendlyName”

29.   Double click and type the name you want to call the Video or Graphic adaptor of the machine e.g in this case NVIDIA GeForce GTX 659 ti which will show everywhere in the operating system , misleading the buyer in his decision.

30.   The edited copy of the regedit file needs to be exported.

NB: the registry refreshes after system startup or reboot which return the VGA information to the original state; to ensure it remains the same, the hacker or scammer create an automatic executable start up program which is Task Scheduler from computer manager.

After these steps of faking the Faking NVIDIA GeForce Adaptor , the scammer goes to the drive C: where the exported property file is, right click on the file and hide it from the buyer.

Anyone can go through this process of faking NVIDIA GeForce Adaptor with his computer, irrespective of the processor type and confirm this article; it does not add any speed or takes away the speed of the computer but can easily mislead people from buying on true specifications of the computer. Thousands of buyers have fallen as victims of this scam in Ghana most especially during the initiation of online business transactions.
